Individuals volunteer in many roles, including patient support, where they help hospice patients and their families through providing a break for caregivers, assisting with household errands and similar chores and providing transportation.
“My advice to any family that has a loved one who’s ill is to seek out Hospice of the Panhandle. Don’t hesitate to call them,” she added. “And it’s so worth it … it’s the total package. It’s not just the end of life.”
He was the Board’s treasurer for many years, which prompted weekly trips to Hospice’s offices to sign hundreds of checks. He also performed vital “Face-to-Face” visits with patients, at the end of his Board tenure.
Palliative care is specialized medical care for people living with a serious illness at any stage of their illness. That often includes palliative care at the time of a new diagnosis, during a flare up, or all of those years in between.
