Change lives by donating to Hospice of the Panhandle

As a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing care for any eligible person, we are very grateful for all the financial support to Hospice of the Panhandle. Because of the generous donations received from our community, no one is turned away regardless of insurance coverage or ability to pay.

Gifts received allow us to care for patients in their homes and at our homelike Inpatient Facility. Your generosity also helps us provide grief counseling at no charge. We offer a variety of ways to give so we can best suit your interests. See details below.

Giving opportunities

General contribution

You are helping Hospice of the Panhandle honor patient wishes and support patient families during one of the most difficult times in their lives. End of life deserves as much beauty, care and respect as the beginning, which you are giving through making a gift to Hospice of the Panhandle. Having this peace of mind with Hospice care allows the family to focus on being together, reminiscing and creating a sense of comfort during their final days with their loved one.

Friendship drive

Help Hospice of the Panhandle patients enjoy what is most important in life – time with their families. By supporting our Friendship Drive, you will help provide excellent care as well as emotional and spiritual support to ensure that patients’ final moments with their families are filled with dignity, comfort and peace.

Planned giving

Planned giving – through means such as personal wills, estate planning and life insurance benefits – is a great way to ensure hospice care for all in the future. Some forms of planned giving offer income to the donor and tax benefits for the donors and their heirs.

Fundraising events

Hospice’s Light Up a Life ceremony is held on the first Sunday in December at our main campus in Kearneysville. Other ceremonies are held in Berkeley Springs and Romney. Friends of Hospice of the Panhandle can remember or honor loved ones by dedicating a circle of light, angel or light for the Hospice of the Panhandle luminary service. There also is a special section of lights for veterans being recognized by their families. Hundreds of luminaries, all representing loved ones, neighbors and family members, line the entryway of Hospice’s campus, the campus of CNB in Berkeley Springs and Shaffer’s Funeral Home in Romney.

Hollywood Nights is Hospice of the Panhandle’s premiere event held in June at the Bavarian Inn in Shepherdstown. Hundreds of sponsors and donors dine on delectable fare created by the Bavarian Inn. A mission moment and silent and live auctions are highlights of the evening. The most recent annual event raised more than $220,000 – all of which goes toward caring for Hospice patients and families.
