Volunteer training
We want to equip you to get the most out of your volunteer experience and to provide the best support for hospice patients and their families! To do that, all volunteers are required to complete our 14-hour training program. It also is open to anyone who is interested in learning more about hospice and there is not cost to participate. In addition to explaining the history and philosophy of hospice, sessions will be held on the following topics:
- Death and dying
- Family dynamics
- Boundaries
- Communication
- Spirituality
- Grief and bereavement
- Volunteerism
- Documentation
- Stress management
- Infection control, HIPAA, sexual abuse and safety
Completion of the training does not obligate anyone to become a volunteer.
