Prior to any volunteer hours, individuals must participate in hospice training. Hospice volunteer trainings are open to any interested person and are held several times throughout the year. There is no cost to participate; however, prior registration is required.
A 1.5 hour introductory class for organizational volunteers, hospice helpers, and needlers and crafters. The class also is open to anyone who is interested in learning about hospice.
Direct Service Training
A 14-hour program for patient support and 11th hour volunteers. It also is open to anyone who is interested in learning more about hospice. In addition to explaining the history and philosophy of hospice, sessions will be held on the following topics:
- Death and dying
- Family dynamics
- Grief and bereavement
- Stress management
- Infection control, HIPAA, sexual abuse and safety
Completion of the training does not obligate anyone to become a volunteer.
Prior to any volunteer training, please complete the volunteer application form and submit it to Hospice of the Panhandle.
