Giving a Gift to HospiceThere are many ways to help Hospice of the Panhandle. Consider the following: Gifts of Cash Gifts of cash, check and online donations are the simplest and most popular ways to give. Such gifts provide immediate support toward the provision of services and help to assure that all people have Gifts of Property Hospice of the Panhandle welcomes gifts in the form of marketable real estate, stocks, bonds or mutual funds. Such gifts or bequests may be used immediately or be held to sell at the discretion of Hospice, if an increase in value is expected. Giving property is helpful to Hospice and may provide tax benefits to you as well. Annual Pledge Hospice of the Panhandle conducts a summer fundraising campaign, the Friendship Drive.Gifts may be made at varying levels and proceeds support the provision of Hospice services throughout the four county area. Annual pledges come from individuals, businesses, and corporations. Some employers have matching gift programs where they will match gifts made to charities by employees. You may want to look into this option to increase your donation to Hospice of the Panhandle. Combined Federal Campaign Designation Hospice of the Panhandle is a United Way of the Eastern Panhandle Partner Agency and a recipient of donations to the Combined Federal Campaign. If your workplace participates in the Combined Federal Campaign, you can designate Hospice of the Panhandle as the recipient of your donation. Our direct designation number is 23558. Talk to your employer about how you can designate your United Way donation to Hospice of the Panhandle. In-kind Support Many services are required to run an efficient, effective program and gifts of in-kind support are highly valued. Sponsorship of advertising, donated landscaping, discounted audit services, office supplies, equipment, and computer training are some examples of how in-kind donations have helped Hospice of the Panhandle. Gifts of Life Insurance Gifts of insurance offer a method of making a substantial gift at a small cost. Naming Hospice of the Panhandle as the owner and beneficiary of a life insurance policy enables you to deduct premium payments and or the cash surrender value of the policy from your income taxes, and may reduce estate taxes. Charitable Trusts and Annuities Choosing one of a variety of charitable trusts and annuities that offer donor income and tax advantages may appeal to you. There are many variations of charitable trusts, each offering different benefits. You may want to talk with your bank's trust officer, accountant, financial planner or estate lawyer to obtain more information about these options for giving. Charitable IRA Rollover Congress has recently extended the Charitable IRA Rollover. On December 17, 2010, President Obama signed the much-anticipated Tax Relief, Unemployment Insurance Reauthorization, and Job Creation Act of 2010. One of the most exciting provisions on charitable donations is the extension of the Charitable IRA Rollover. This law allows people who are 70½ or older to make tax-free transfers of up to $100,000 per year from a Traditional IRA or Roth IRA directly to charity. The law was originally effective for 2006 and 2007 and then twice extended through 2009. It expired on January 1, 2010 but was reinstituted at year’s end. The new law extends the charitable IRA rollover for two years and also allows transfers through the end of 2011. Bequests By having an attorney revise your will or adding a simple amendment, you can make a much-needed charitable gift to Hospice of the Panhandle.
