Capital Campaign

Hospice of the Panhandle continues to work toward better serving the eastern panhandle of West Virginia.  For many years we have had held onto a dream of opening an inpatient hospice facility that will serve patients who cannot remain at home due to pain issues, difficult symptom management or the need for respite care.

It is our goal to provide this hospital type care in a home-like setting for the residents of Berkeley, Jefferson, Hampshire and Morgan Counties.  The inpatient hospice facility will provide our patients and families with 24-hour care when necessary, comfort and relief from pain, and relief for caregivers who are overwhelmed with the needs of care.

We have obtained land on Route 9 on the Berkeley County and Jefferson County line.  This location will provide a rural, restful backdrop for the care we will be providing.  Preliminary plans are complete and we are moving forward with this project.

A capital campaign, Building the Dream is underway to help fund the project and many individuals have already made pledges.  Several local businesses have also given the campaign a substantial boost.  Charles Town Races and Slots and the Center for Orthopedic Excellence are among those leading the way.  We are incredibly appreciative of their early support and look forward to working with others in the community to achieve our goal of increasing our ability to provide a full range of end-of-life services to people in our community.
