Hospice
of the Panhandle offers grief support services to any hospice family
member as well as people from the community. All services are provided
at no cost and may include:
Individual and family counseling with specialized services for
children and teens
Support groups for people who have lost a loved one through death
Specialized programs for people who have had a loved one die from
suicide, murder, accident or those who have lost a child or had
a miscarriage or still birth
A correspondence program called the Letters of Hope that consists
of monthly letters that are mailed to survivors for the first
13 months after a person has died
Information and referral: The Hospice of the Panhandle Bereavement
Department has an extensive collection of information booklets,
books, videos and CDs related to grief and loss. All materials
are available to people who are coping with the death of a loved
one. Grief counselors are available for consultation and referral.
Hospice volunteers can create a memory of hospice patients for
loved ones from an article of clothing. Choices include a small
quilt, bear, bunny or pillow.
Community
Education: Hospice of the Panhandle is committed to community
education and members of the Bereavement Department are available
to present programs for community groups. Information about grief
and loss is available to the community in a variety of formats.
